The National Coastal Tourism Academy (NCTA) is the centre of excellence for Coastal Tourism in the UK. In 2016 they were awarded funding from VisitEngland’s Discover England Fund to increase international visitors from France, Germany and Holland to Englands Coast. The following rebrand is an extension of an earlier project (Coastal Pass) from Visit England which piloted the use of interactive videos and a personalised itinerary builders.
The project is aimed at “Mature Experience Seekers” and “Outdoor Enthusiasts” aged between 35-60 who have been to England before or those looking to experience the ‘real England’ outside of London.
After the initial success of Coastal Pass, it was agreed that the existing name didn’t fulfil the needs of the identity moving forward. As part of the renaming, we worked closely with NCTA to reposition the brand as Englands Coast, creating a new identity, marketing materials, trade communications, brand guidelines and website design. The result is a brand that takes direct inspiration from the shapes, colours and cultural associations of British coastlines.
